YARGH!!!~@#!@!~!

ALWAYS.ALWAYS!$%#$@#
THE 1982 BATCH IS CURSED I TELL U.
CURSED.

so YET ANOTHER.

The ICM Programme has been renamed Communications and New Media Programme —or CNM. The change is the result of a major restructuring of the curriculum and the addition of new modules in the areas of interactive media and communication management (public relations). These are brand new developments, with the Faculty Senate approving the changes on the 16th of March! The new modules will be offered starting in August 2005.
CNM will offer three areas of study: new media studies, communication management (public relations) and interactive media. The programme is very flexible and students can take modules from all three areas as well as from other departments, the School of Computing and the School of Business.
The core of the CNM Programme is new media studies, which covers subjects such as internet studies, online communities and the impact of new technologies in the social, cultural, political and economic landscape of a country and, in effect, the world. With this foundation, students can then specialize in one of the two areas—communication management or interactive media.
The communication management area focuses on organizational communication and offers modules such as public relations and news writing, online journalism, communication campaigns, online communication management and publication graphics.
The interactive media area offers modules in aesthetics of new media, game development, drawing and storytelling for interactivity, communicating through video and sound, virtual reality and human-computer interaction. While these modules will have a technical component, the focus will be on critical and theoretical approaches and how to apply them strategically in creating content.
CNM will have a new website within the next two weeks, but in the meantime, students interested in learning more about the modules that will be offered can stop by the CNM office—in AS3 #04-15—and pick up a brochure. The brochure includes all the modules currently offered as well as the new ones.

The communication management modules that will be offered in semester 1 AY2005-2006 are:
Semester 1IF2219 Principles of Communication Management (no pre-requisites)
IF2220 Introduction to Media Writing (we recommend you take these two modules together if you can)

Semester 2IF 2221 News Reporting and Editing
IF 3217 Publications Graphics and Design;

In the area of interactive media the new modules are:
Semester 1IF2216 Introduction to Interactive Media (no pre-requisites)
IF2217 Creating Interactive Media

Semester 2IF2218 Critical Introduction to Gaming;
IF3216 Gaming Culture 1

ALWAYS.I SWEAR.EVERY SINGLE TIME OUR BATCH IS DONE WITH SOMETHING.
THEY HAVE TO.THEY JUST HAVE TO DO THESE CHANGES FOR THE BETTER.
